Where to Buy Live Crab in Seattle

In late June, before crabbing season was open in our area, we planned a crab boil to celebrate my youngest sister turning the big 40.  Since we couldn't fetch dungies from the Puget Sound, we had to buy live crab. Our local Metropolitan Market typically has live crab however it tends to be pretty pricey…especially if you're feeding a group.

Here are some places that we've found in Seattle that have live crab.

Mutual Fish Company is a Seattle stand-by located off of Rainier Ave. We've shopped here in the past – they have a great selection and the store is very clean. They are open Monday through Saturday. Our event was on a Sunday and we didn't really want to have a bunch of crabs running around the bathtub overnight so we had to keep looking…

We found that Lucky Seafood is open on Sundays.  This is where we picked up our beautiful crab (at a beautiful price) along with some live shrimp for the boil. They had just moved to their new location on Beacon Hill.  We'll be back!

Where do you go for live crab in Seattle?

  1. Hi. My name is Dani. Our family runs a small fishing operation out of the Sound. We will be having crab available around the beginning of June. We will always stay competitively priced. If you can find a better price in the area, contact me and I will beat it. Please email me @ google group = myfishlist@googlegroups.com Request an invitation to join and get on the list for updates automatically sent to you as to what we have and when and where you may pick it up. Happy Cooking 🙂

    • Hi, Just moved from catching our own crab. Do you sell live dungeness? If so how much and how big? Where do you go to pick up. Thanks Kay

      • Hi Kay, we just catch crab for our personal enjoyment.

  2. Thanks, Dani. We typically like to catch our own once crabbing season opens. When I wrote this post, the season was closed.

  3. I ve never seen Dungeness crab that wasn t already cooked. Then go to Central Market or Uwajimaya – they ve got tanks full of live Dungeness crabs.
